Popular Series Kicks Off a New Season on March 19
NASHVILLE - Debuting in 2005, the CMA Songwriters Series at Joe's Pub has become one of New York City's most popular and intimate nights of music. Due to popular demand, the series is back for a fifth year to showcase some of Nashville's renowned songwriters.
"Knowing what a treasure our Nashville songwriters are, we wanted to share their talents with other music lovers," said CMA Chief Executive Officer Tammy Genovese. "So five years ago we took a group to Joe's Pub in New York for the first CMA Songwriters Series. New Yorkers embraced them and it has been an amazing success ever since."
Hosted by Bob DiPiero ("Take Me As I Am" recorded by Faith Hill, "Blue Clear Sky" recorded by George Strait and "Till You Love Me" recorded by Reba McEntire), the 2009 series will begin Thursday, March 19 (6:30 and 9:30 PM/ET). Other songwriters performing and sharing the inspiration behind their songs include BMI Songwriter of the Year Casey Beathard ("No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problem" recorded by Kenny Chesney, "Do You Want Fries With That" recorded by Tim McGraw, and "Right Where I Need To Be" recorded by Gary Allan), ASCAP Songwriter of the Year Dave Berg ("If You're Going Through Hell" recorded by Rodney Atkins, "Stupid Boy" recorded by Keith Urban, and "Moments" recorded by Emerson Drive), Sarah Buxton ("Stupid Boy" recorded by Keith Urban), and Rivers Rutherford ("Ain't Nothing 'Bout You" recorded by Brooks & Dunn, "Real Good Man" recorded by Tim McGraw, and "If You Ever Stop Loving Me" recorded by Montgomery Gentry).
Additional CMA Songwriters Series performances are scheduled for May 21 (6:30 and 9:30 PM/ET) with others to be announced soon.
